On June 25, 2020, representatives of the University attended the forty-ninth bargaining session with the union committee that represents Postdocs and ARSs. The bargaining session was held via video conference.
The Union presented revised proposals on Leaves, Non-Discrimination, and Union Security. The parties discussed the differences in their proposals on Non-Discrimination and the recently-issued regulations under Title IX.
The University presented a revised proposal on Compensation that provides for a lump sum payment to Postdocs and ARSs on payroll as of ratification of the Agreement of 2.0% of FY2020 salary.
The parties discussed the University’s proposal on Benefits. The University explained that under its proposal, it reserves the right to modify benefits after notice to the Union, provided that such benefits are substantially equivalent to those provided to other similarly situated employees. Benefits provided to Postdoctoral Research Fellows may continue to differ from benefits provided to Postdoctoral Research Scientists/Scholars.
The next bargaining session is scheduled for June 26, 2020.
