On June 10, 2019, representatives of the University attended the eighth bargaining session with the union committee that represents postdocs and ARSs.
At the beginning of the session, a member of the bargaining unit described their experience of delay in the processing of their appointment and resulting delay in receiving pay and discussed the disruption they experienced and costs they incurred as a result of being required to return to their home country to renew their visa on an annual basis.
Discussion of the union committee’s Non-Discrimination and Harassment proposal continued.
The union bargaining committee then presented revised proposals on Appointments and Reappointments, Training, Travel, Union-Management Committee, and Workspace and Materials. The parties reviewed the changes and discussed reaching a tentative agreement on Union-Management Committee at the next session.
The University then presented its Discipline and Discharge proposal for discussion.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 19th.
