Bargaining Session 18

Representatives of the University met with representatives of the CPW-UAW Union for their eighteenth bargaining session.

August 14, 2023

The University presented revised proposals on Appointments, International Employees, Workspace and Materials and the side letter on Diversity in Hiring Practices and Inclusivity in an effort to close out all remaining non-economic articles. The Union was unable to respond to the University's revised proposal on Appointments because one of the members of their bargaining committee was unable to stay past the beginning of the session.  The parties discussed the other revised proposals and reached tentative agreements on Workspace and Materials and the side letter. After a clarifying revision to the University’s proposal on International Employees, the parties also reached a tentative agreement on that article. The University offered to continue the bargaining session to discuss the remaining open articles: Benefits, Childcare, Compensation, and Duration. The Union deferred further discussion until their next availability to meet on August 31.  The parties confirmed August 31 for the next session.  The University proposed meeting for two consecutive days and is waiting for the Union's availability to set additional bargaining dates.
