On May 23, 2023, representatives of the University met with representatives of the CPW-UAW Union for their seventh bargaining session.
The University presented a comprehensive package of proposals with revised non-economic and economic terms, including Holidays, Professional Development, Vacations, Workspace and Materials, and Compensation, as well as a relocation payment and a Hardship Support Fund.
The University offered a 5-year contract with a 4% increase in initial compensation minimums for postdocs and ARSs effective July 1, 2023. The University also offered new yearly increases in the initial compensation minimums of 2.5%. Consistent with the contract’s current terms, the University offered annual increases of no less than 2.5%, or the new minimum, whichever is greater. In addition, the University offered a one-time relocation payment of $1,250 to all newly hired employees on or after January 1, 2024, and a Hardship Support Fund of $150,000 for the term of the agreement.
The parties discussed the proposals.
The parties are scheduled to meet again on June 1, 2023.
